Dear UICB
members,
UICB has a Vision of what the future we want to
be moving towards looks like and a Mission that describes what our role
is, today as well as in that future. We want to reactivate the UICB, engage its
members – old and new – in this attempt to spread our message, which is:
A good built environment is
a worthwhile investment for all.
The UICB members as professionals in information
services for the construction sector can help to make the built environment
better. A high quality built environment is energy conscious, practical, durable
and aesthetically pleasing in accordance with Vitruvius’ famous
Utilitas, Firmitas, Venustas
.
In an
increasingly competitive society, knowledge as to how to build, improve and
maintain this environment is a tool which makes its user more competitive and
gives added value to the end product. The UICB as a
world-wide organisation works for the shaping, distribution and use of valid
information for all players in the construction field towards a good built
environment as a wide concept.
The UICB is now making new efforts to activate the
members. We want to enable you, our members, to profit from each others’ experiences and
thus give added value to each other in your everyday work. We are launching new
cooperation models already this year, as the Secretary General will report. Together
we are so much stronger than the sum of our separate building
centres.
So join the work forces of the
UICB and spread the word!
The more numerous we are the better we
can be heard, the more we can influence our whole built environment and the
better the tools we possess will become.
Gunnel
Adlercreutz
President

How UICB brand helps to open new markets |
The Building Information Ltd (Finland) is partly a
traditional Building Centre with four permanent exhibitions in Finland and two
abroad and also a publishing house and main share of its 11 million Euros
turnover is made in publishing business.
The company
publishes magazines, information files and catalogues for professionals and
50 titles of books annually for consumers and professionals. Ten
of these books are targeted specially for international markets. The Building Information Ltd uses all
normal channels to market its books for international audience, including
internet, electronic bookshop and the services offered by
UICB
.
Building Information Ltd offers its new books also via UICB
website and this channel has given the company more
reliability and interesting new contacts. The Building Information
Ltd has recently managed to sell publishing rights of books into China, found
new agents from Asia and Eastern Europe. A membership in trustworthy
international network of UICB has obviously helped the Building Information Ltd
